HOW I HANDLE YOUR DATA

LAST UPDATED 21 AUGUST 2026

This page explains what personal data jfrost.co collects, why it is collected, and what rights you have over it. In short: analytics only run if you accept them, I never sell your data, and you can ask me to delete anything I hold at any time.

The detail

In plain English

Who I am

jfrost.co is operated by Jack Frost, based in Tonbridge, Kent, United Kingdom. I am the data controller for personal data collected through this website. For any question about this policy or your data, email jfrost.web@gmail.com.

What I collect

Analytics. I use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use this site. This records pages viewed, approximate location at city level, device and browser type, referring website, and a randomly generated identifier stored in a cookie. It does not tell me who you are by name. Analytics only runs if you accept it via the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set.

Comments. If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name and email address you enter, your comment, your IP address and your browser user agent.

Email. If you email me, I keep that correspondence so I can reply and, where relevant, deliver work we agree on.

Embedded content. Some pages embed videos from YouTube. These behave as if you had visited YouTube directly and may set their own cookies under Google’s privacy policy. I have no control over that collection.

I do not operate a contact form, run a mailing list, sell anything through this site, or use profiling or automated decision-making.

Why I’m allowed to collect it

Analytics and non-essential cookies — your consent, given through the cookie banner, which you can withdraw at any time.
Comments — your consent, given by submitting the comment.
Email correspondence — my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and where we go on to work together, performance of a contract.

Cookies

The cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies, and change your mind later. Full details of each cookie are in the cookie policy.

Who your data is shared with

Google — analytics data, and any data collected by embedded YouTube videos.
IONOS — my hosting provider, who processes data incidentally through server logs.

I do not sell personal data, and I do not share it with anyone else except where I am legally required to. Google processes data in the United States, relying on the UK–US Data Bridge and Google’s standard contractual clauses.

How long it’s kept

Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for 14 months, then deleted. Comments are kept indefinitely unless you ask me to remove them. Email correspondence is kept for as long as needed for our working relationship, and up to six years afterwards where records are needed for tax or legal purposes.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data I hold about you, correct anything inaccurate, have your data erased in most circumstances, restrict or object to how I use it, receive it in a transferable format, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting anything done before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these, email jfrost.web@gmail.com. I will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you think I have handled your data improperly, please contact me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF, helpline 0303 123 1113, ico.org.uk.

Changes

I may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with a revised date.

Questions about any of this? Email me and you will get a proper answer from a person, not a ticket number. If you would rather I deleted everything I hold about you, just say so.
